The 15th Annual Southwest Challenge duathlon is scheduled at Holloman March 18 for a 5K run and a 30K bike race.

Holloman's Outdoor Recreation Center is hosting the event for all foreign and domestic military servicemembers, retirees, dependents and civilians, including those who wish to participate from Alamogordo, Las Cruces, El Paso and other surrounding areas, said Ms. Willie Luzano, 49th Services Squadron marketing.

"This is one of the few events we do on base that is open to both civilians and military to compete together in an athletic event," said Ms. Amanda Gallagher, 49 SVS marketing.
"Its a perfect event that makes the goal about crossing the finish line together as athletes."

The entrance fee for this event is $30 for individuals and $55 for a team. The fee also covers a pasta lunch, goodie bag and a T-shirt, said Ms. Luzano.

"The top three in each category (13 categories) will receive a medal," said Chief Master Sgt. Vyanne Roush, 49 SVS superintendent. "Top overall male and female winners will receive a sports bag."

Information and registration for the duathlon can be found on the Holloman Services Web site, http://hollomanservices.com, various places in Alamogordo or call ODR at 572-5396. All entries must be turned in to ODR by March 16.
