Best of the best recognized in upcoming Annual Awards Banquet Published Feb. 14, 2007 By Senior Airman Terri Barriere 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The Annual Awards Banquet takes place Feb. 24 in honor and recognition of the "best of the best" from the 49th Fighter Wing. "The purpose of the annual awards banquet is to recognize outstanding performance and achievements of Holloman Air Force Base Airmen and civilians," said Master Sgt. Dawn Vetter, marketing committee chairperson. According to Sergeant Vetter, the banquet recognizes people who exemplify core values, have the right attitude and have made a significant impact in a positive way in their units. "These are the three characteristics that lead to their nominations," she said. The award winners will go onto to compete at the Air Force level for a 12 Outstanding Airmen of The Year slot. "The Annual Awards Banquet is the highlight of a year of hard work in the 49th Fighter Wing - a year of effort and achievement," said Brig. Gen. David Goldfein, 49 FW commander. "Every one of the nominees is to be congratulated for his or her contributions to their job, Holloman Air Force Base, the community and the United States Air Force. I am proud of all of you - you have all the required qualities needed for today's Air Force, and your contributions are necessary for the success, protection and quality of life of our great nation! Again, my congratulations to all of our nominees - Airmen and Civilians -- you are all winners! My thanks to you for your outstanding efforts." This year's banquet will be a combination of the Annual Awards Banquet and the honor guard banquet and will feature a performance by the Steel Talons, special POW/MIA presentation and the posting of the colors. The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. in the Enlisted Club Ballroom. For more information or ticket sales, see unit first sergeants.
