The Holloman Spouses Organization in conjunction with the First Sergeants Association hosted a cookie drive for Holloman’s dorm Airmen December 5, 2022.

The two groups delivered bags of cookies to the 1,200 dorm residents here on base who may be away from family or loved ones during the holiday season.

The organizations received donations from across base as well as throughout the community, collecting a total of 14,000 cookies.

“We had donations both on and off base so that the community can also participate in giving to Airmen here at Holloman,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Denise Flores, 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron first sergeant.

For Holloman’s dorm residents, this gesture signifies that the 49th Wing’s leadership cares about their Airmen, bringing some holiday cheer to the base.

“A lot of Airmen here on base may not get to be with their families this year, so it’s important to do little things that can help lift spirits,” said Flores. “It’s a small way of showing they're not here alone, that we care about them.”

Holloman’s first sergeants distributed the cookies to dorm residents, going door to door to personally wish Airmen happy holidays.

Accompanying the bags of cookies were handwritten cards from children at the local elementary school, wishing Airmen happy holidays.

“We have packaged 1,200 bags of cookies for the Airmen here,” said Cynthia Taylor, cookie drive volunteer. “The remaining bags will be delivered to families staying in temporary housing and the family camp on base.”

Organizations on base worked together with community members to show their appreciation for the Airmen here on base. Holloman’s leadership team continues to show Airmen appreciation for their hard work throughout the year, ensuring they are not alone for the holidays and know their leadership is looking out for them.
