Soar into shape in 2015 Published Dec. 17, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Chase Cannon 49th Wing Public Affairs HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE N.M. -- The end of 2014 is rapidly approaching, with only a handful of days left until New Year. Most of Americans have spent the last two months falling into unhealthy habits. It's easy to stay home instead of hitting the gym when the weather gets colder or feel pressure to over indulge during holiday gatherings. Right about now you may be contemplating what your New Year's resolution will be and how you will accomplish it. The Holloman Health Promotion office may be able to help accomplish your goals, this year with the "Soar into Shape" program starting on January 12, 2015. "This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone on base," said Julie Bailey, Health Promotion coordinator. "The military has a certain image it needs to keep and this program is great for anyone who needs that extra push to get there." You must register for this before the January 15, starting date. You can register as an individual or with a team of up to four people. All active duty members, retired members, spouses, reservists, guard members and beneficiaries older than 18 years of age are able to participate. Each participant must complete a weekly log, to track the classes they take and the time they spend exercising. A maximum of six points can be earned each day, with bonus points earned for attending Soar into Shape classes and for completing Bod Pod assessments. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the program in multiple categories, including best team name and most weight lost.
