Airman pleads guilty to charges

A guilty plea was given to the judge by Airman 1st Class Aaron M. Johnson of the 49th Material Maintenance Squadron prior to his sentencing at a summary court-martial held on Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico July 10.

After pleading guilty to one charge of dereliction of duty for underage drinking, in violation of Article 92 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice, one charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, in violation of Article 128 of the UCMJ, and one charge of wrongfully communicating a threat, in violation of Article 134 or the UCMJ, Johnson was sentenced to 25 days of confinement, reprimand, and reduction of rank to Airman Basic.

According to the Area Defense Council, the accused stated that he realized what he did was wrong. He apologizes for what he did and is very sorry for putting his family under such circumstances.
