Airmen helping Airmen Published March 25, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Chase Cannon 49th Wing Public Affairs HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Once again it's that time of the year, when members of Team Holloman are asked to provide assistance for fellow Airmen throughout the Air Force. The Air Force Assistance Fund kicked off with a breakfast March 25, 2014, and will continue through May 2, 2014. "Holloman has received almost $250,000 worth of loans, grants, and community programs in 2013," said Maj. Ryan Jodoi, 49th Operation Support Squadron director of staff and an AFAF installation project officer this year. "It's such a valuable and beneficial system for Holloman to have, because we get so much more back than what we put in." Donations to the AFAF provide support directly to the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Village, The Air Force Enlisted Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis Lemay Foundation. "Its Airmen helping Airmen," said Jodoi. "Most donations made through the fund come from enlisted, commissioned and even retired members. This program has provided thousands of dollars to keep Airmen and their families on their feet." Holloman has implemented a 100 percent contact order to ensure every Airman on base will be aware of the AFAF campaign and what kind of support the organization offers. A goal of $69,405 has been set for this year. "This campaign has benefited a lot of Airmen here at Holloman and it's important that we continue to support these charities, "said Senior Master Sgt. Mary Lake, 49th Aerospace Medical Squadron an AFAF installation project officer this year. "It's our job as Airmen to help each other out and provide support for our brothers and sisters in arms." If you are interested in donating to the Air Force Assistance fund, contact your unit AFAF unit representative before May 2.
