The base experienced a pre-scheduled power outage to repair areas of concern May 21.

The Civil Engineer Maintenance, Inspection and Repair Teams identified five areas of concern during an assessment in April, and members from the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron electrical shop prepared to rectify these issues.

Members corrected all items that were identified by CEMIRT. The repairs included preventative maintenance on 15 air brake switches, removal of a damaged switch and correcting multiple loose connections on the buss, breakers and regulators.

Power Production, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning and Utilities technicians were on stand-by to address any issues if they were to arise during and after the outage.

While working, crew members identified areas of concern in the breaker cabinets and added gas to ensure a switch operated normally.

“The maintenance was needed and will surely provide longevity to our power grid,” said Lt. Col. Kevin Mares, the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron commander. “The crew worked hard to accomplish our goals for the outage, all objectives were met and power was returned 100 percent within the scheduled timeframe.”
