Team Holloman gives blood, life
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class Geoffrey Schellhase, 49th Maintenance Squadron, has his blood pressure taken during the Armed Services Blood Drive screening at the Community Activity Center Dec. 6, 2010. With increased military operations and humanitarian relief efforts being supported by servicemembers, there is an increased need for blood for all U.S. military personnel. The blood drive was sponsored by the Blood Donor Center at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Members from the WBAMC travel to military installations throughout the southwest region of the U.S. to collect blood donations from military members, their families and civilans with access to the different installations. Team Holloman gives blood, life
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE N.M. -- A master sergeant with the 849th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, gives blood during the Armed Services Blood Drive at the Community Activity Center Dec. 6, 2010. Firefighters perform structural fire exercise
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class Tristan Cooper, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, advances a quick attack fire line to the front door of a simulated burning building during a monthly structural fire exercise Dec. 1, 2010. Airman Cooper and other firefighters participated in the exercise where they are required to clear the room, put the fire out and rescue any occupants. Throughout the year firefighters are required to perform egress training on the F-22 Raptor, GR1 Tornado and the T-38 aircraft as well. They also train on hazardous materials, confined spaces and special operations to maintain their Defense International Fire Service Accreditation Congress certifications. Firefighters perform structural fire exercise
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Eric Murillo, a firefighter with the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron, operates a water pump on a 2010 Rescue Pumper during a monthly structural fire exercise Dec. 1, 2010. Mr. Murillo also maintained personnel accountability with his fire crash radio as part of the exercise. Throughout the year firefighters are required to perform egress training on the F-22 Raptor, GR1 Tornado and the T-38 aircraft as well. Firefighters use this training to prepare for the Operational Readiness Inspection by improving their response procedures for suspicious packages and emergency response to Weapons of Mass Destruction and other terrorist threats. 'Tis the season
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Members of Team Holloman, along with their families, sing carols next to the base Chapel during the lighting of the holiday tree and Menorah Dec. 1, 2010. The tree was recently decorated by members of the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron in honor of the holiday season and to boost morale throughtout the base. In addition to the tree decoration, the 49th CES helped the base Chapel set up a holiday display beside the tree including the Menorah and a "Happy Holidays" banner. Holiday display brightens base

Water plant ensures quality, distributes quantity
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Mark Stevenson, a water plant operator for the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron, counts the drops of titrant solution needed to identify the intensity of calcium present in Holloman's potable water during a test Nov. 30, 2010. He and other water plant operators test the potable water daily to measure the calcium and chlorine levels to insure it is adequately disinfected. 'Ghost Warriors' celebrate heritage room
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Gervase Peso, Vietnam Veteran and member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, poses with a Lieutenant Colonel from the 29th Attack Squadron and Mark Chino, president of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, during the grand opening of the heritage room Nov. 19, 2010. Mr. Peso's artwork is showcased on the wall specifically for the 29th ATKS "Ghost Warriors" to affirm heritage associated with the reactivation of the squadron on 23 October 2009 at Holloman. President Chino was presented with an MQ-9 Reaper photograph in dedication of his support and continued relationship with the squadron. The ceremony kicked off with food and drinks followed by a blessing of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft made significant with a tribal chant that also honored famous Apache leaders such as Geronimo and Chochise. HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- An Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician guides an ANDROS HD-1 robot out of the EOD truck Nov. 18, 2010. The exercise scenario called for 49th Civil Engineer Squadron EOD Airmen to respond to and neutralize a simulated explosive device. The scenario was part of a base-wide exercise which tested Team Holloman's ability to respond to an emergency situation such as a terrorist attack, and to effectively execute changes to Force Protection Condition in response. A&FRC hosts Retiree Activity Day
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Retired military members gather for lunch at the Shifting Sands Dining Facility Nov. 12, 2010. The retirees were attendants of the Retiree Activity Day hosted by the Airman & Family Readiness Center. Centrifuge takes last spin
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Members of the Physiological Training Center concluded 22 years of centrifuge training at Holloman with its final spin Oct. 27, 2010. Operated by the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, the centrifuge was used as a training device to expose pilots to a high level of G-forces -- a measurement of an object's acceleration -- which aircrews encounter in high-performance aircraft. Upon its last spin, Holloman's centrifuge had been used to train nearly 32,000 students, including service members from all branches, North Atlantic Treaty Organization troops and members of allied forces.
