HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Arrianna Burch, daughter of Senior Airman James Hastings, 49th Material Maintenance Squadron, takes a look inside a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, also known as a HUMVEE, during Operation K.I.D.: Kids Investigating Deployment, Aug. 12, 2010. Airmen from the 49th Security Forces Squadron showed kids the inside of a HUMVEE and talked to them about how they are used in a deployed location. Training projects on a simulated aircraft structure give Airmen the experience they need to fix any carbon fiber part on an MQ-1 Predator or MQ-9 Reaper before going out to the flight-line. Call for photos: Help Holloman find N.M. heroes
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Enshrined on the National Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., are the names of 58,261 Americans who gave their lives for their country in the Vietnam War. Of the 400 New Mexican veterans whose name is on the wall, two of them listed their home of record as Holloman Air Force Base. The 49th Wing Public Affairs Office was asked to help find the photos of these two heroes -- and Holloman-natives -- as part of a nationwide “Call for Photos” by the National Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund, which is building an Education Center at The Wall to display a photograph of every American who gave their life in the Vietnam War. Team Holloman gives big
ALAMOGORDO, N.M. -- Master Sgt. Leslie Tucker, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron at Holloman Air Force Base, removes scrap wood while his team finishes constructing a new roof at the Father James B. Hay Catholic Pre-school July 24, 2010, during the Big Give. The Big Give, headed by the 49th Force Support Squadron Marketing, is a competition where Team Holloman members form teams and see who can give the "biggest". This year, Team Meansteam won the competition. The team members used their expertise to re-roof the Father B. Hay Preschool in Alamogordo to allow teachers to hold classes in the rooms without water leaking on the children. They also did a large-scale renovation of the Veterans' of Foreign Wars office by installing new windows, a new floor and a new roof.
