Centrifuge takes last spin
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class Derrick Brown, Aeropace Physiological Training Center technician, lectures an F-16 pilot on anti-gravity straining manuevers as he spins in the centrifuge during the last training course Oct. 27, 2010. For 22 years, members from the Physiological Training Center have conducted flight acceleration training using a centrifuge which exposes aircrews to a high level of G-forces -- a measurement of an object's acceleration. Keeping an eye on traffic
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Nate Jim, an electrician from Bixby Electric Company, connects each wire in an electrical cabinet to configure the traffic signal sequence with the new traffic cameras Oct. 20, 2010. The new traffic cameras on both intersections of New Mexico Avenue and Arizona Avenue on First Street will detect when vehicles are turning during high traffic hours. Members of the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron also installed school zone flashers on both of the roads facing First Street to ensure both directions of traffic are aware of when school hours are in effect. Walking for awareness
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Claudia Enriquez and Barbara Broughton, both members of the 49th Medical Group, lead the Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk-A-Thon through a neighborhood on base and down First Street Oct. 26, 2010. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, members of Team Holloman arranged a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk-A-Thon. Participants in the walk included Soaring Heights staff, spouses and dependants with the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron Fire Protection Flight lead the way in a fire truck and the 49th Security Forces Squadron directing traffic. The mission of the event was to reach out to the public to let them know that early detection is key in the treatment of breast cancer. Holloman fuel truck repaired with unique weld
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Tech. Sgt. Daniel Fraga, master welder for the 49th Maintenance Squadron, welds a crack on the undercarriage of an R-11 fuel truck Oct. 14, 2010. Sergeant Fraga used welding filler wire to add to the molten pool created by the welding process. This welding task began when the Non-Destructive Inspection Flight discovered a six-inch crack in the fuel tank and the task was the first to ever be attempted at Holloman. The Metals Technology Flight took precautions in planning for the project, starting with airing out the fuel tank for over a month. They used a non-reactive gas while welding to prevent the tank from exploding. Shooters vie to be 'top gun' at Apache Sports Range
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Maj. Eric Hendrickson, 6th Reconnaissance Squadron, fires his rifle during a competition Oct. 19, 2010. The competition was hosted by the 6th RS and the 29th ATKS, and they were joined by members of associate units to compete for the title of pistol champion, rifle champion, shotgun champion and three-gun champion -- a combination of pistol, rifle and shotgun. Airmen compete for Load Crew of the quarter

Joshua Young, a Weapons Load Crew Team Chief from the 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, confirms the proper placement of a Guided Bomb Unit-32 Joint Direct Attack Munition smart bomb onto a jammer during a Load Crew Competition Oct. 8, 2010. Holloman single parents: "You're not alone"
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Through her involvement in the Single Parents Network, Staff Sgt. Latoshia Green, 49th Medical Support Squadron and vice president of the SPN, has met other single active-duty parents and has learned about numerous kid-friendly events for her and her 19-month old daughter, Arianna, to enjoy. The Holloman SPN is a group of military parents who share information and experiences. The network meets the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. in the Community Activity Center, where they discuss topics important to single parents and to learn what resources they have available to them.
