Holloman gives big to White Sands National Monument
Members of the Big Give team, The Judy Choppers and the White Sands National Monument superintendent, paint an evening program shed at White Sands National Monument on July 25. Holloman’s Big Give is a charitable event supporting local people and communities. Teams may consist of five to 15 people. Holloman teams are not limited to active duty personnel. 314th FS activation
Lt. Col. Andrew Caggiano, 314th Fighter Squadron commander, addresses his Airmen, family and friends at the activation of the 314th FS at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., on July 14. The 54th Fighter Group, a detachment of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., activated the 314th Fighter Squadron here. Their mission is to produce the world’s greatest F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter pilots and deploy combat mission ready Airmen. The 314th FS was first activated July 6, 1942. During that time, the unit deployed to serve with Ninth Air Force in Egypt, where it took part in the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. Lt. Col. Andrew Caggiano, 314th Fighter Squadron commander, accepts the 314th FS guidon from Col. Caggiano graduated with military distinction from the United States Air Force Academy in 1997. He earned his pilot wings at Euro-NATO Joint Jet pilot Training in 1999 at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He is a command pilot with over 1,850 hours in the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The mission of the 314th FS is to produce the world’s greatest F-16 Fighting Falcon pilots and deploy combat mission-ready Airmen to units worldwide.
