Members of the F-4 Phantom II Society take photos of a QF-4 during takeoff at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Oct. 16. Once each year, the Phantom Society travels to bases that have functional F-4s for the Phantom Society convention, known as PhanCon. The 580-member society is made up of former Phantom pilots, maintainers and “phanatics” from 26 countries who are dedicated to preserving the history of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II fighter.
