Colonel David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, speaks with E.C. Strange about sonic booms at a town hall meeting in Cloudcroft, N.M., June 14. A presentation was held to keep the citizens of the surrounding areas of Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., informed and up to date on the current F-22 Raptor mission as well as the reasons behind the sonic booms that occur during training. Some concerns were voiced about low-altitude flights in the mountainous regions around Holloman AFB. Krumm reassured the citizens of Holloman’s intentions to raise the lowest flyable altitude above those areas to decrease possible effects of supersonic flight.
