SAN MARCOS, Texas –- U.S. Army Sgt. Stephen Evans, a combat medic who is now a Wounded Warrior; Mahon Motley, a volunteer working with Team River Runner; and U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Mari Mosteller, 49th Wing public affairs, take a break from the rapids here Feb. 18. Evans sustained a critical injury causing lower limb paralysis while serving in Iraq three years ago. He was sent to the Brooks Army Medical Center to begin rehabilitation after his injury, and as a part of that rehabilitation began kayaking and competing with Team River Runner across the continent.
