SAN MARCOS, Texas –- Ted Brinegar, director of Outdoor Recreation at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., stands in the doorway of the Power Olympic Outdoor Center here Feb. 17. Brinegar led a group of six Airmen one civilian and one spouse on a kayaking trip to the Olympic Training Center to learn from kayaking great and former Olympian Ben Kvanli. The center is run by the Red River Racing Team, consisting of Kvanli and his team of instructors who regularly host small groups of paddlers for training. Brinegar helped found the Red River Racing Team with Kvanli 15 years ago when both were attending Texas State University.
