The hub for munitions

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- U.S. Air Force Senior Airmen Robert Thomas and Justin Crawford, both from the 49th Maintenance Squadron’s conventional munitions flight, use sandpaper to smooth the surface of an AIM-9 missile Aug. 15, 2011. After sanding down all bare surfaces on AIM-9 missiles, they are coated with primer before being sprayed with a final coat of paint. Airmen from the conventional maintenance element prepare these missiles every six months as part of a periodic inspection to protect them from weather damage.
