BEAR necessities

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class Jamie Peterson and Airman 1st Class Estrella Mora, both from the 49th Materiel Maintenance Squadron, put together a shorting stick and a high-voltage terminal to bleed off any possible stored electrical energy from a secondary distribution center Sept. 30, 2010. These secondary distribution centers transform 12,470/7,200 volts down to a useable 120/208 volts that powers tents, shop equipment and personal utilities in a deployed location. Secondary distribution centers and other electrical equipment at the Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources Base are tested weekly to ensure that they are ready to deploy at a moment's notice.
