HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, presents a Bronze Star Medal to Senior Master Sgt. Troy Kohlieber, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron Operations Flight Superintendant, during a Warrior Call at the Enlisted Club Aug. 13, 2010. According to the citation accompanying the medal, Sergeant Kohlieber distinguished himself by meritorious achievement as the Operations Flight superintendant, 777th Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Squadron, while engaged in ground operations at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, from September 2009 to April 2010. He led a flight of more than 60 personnel in the build-up of a newly-formed Engineer Squadron supporting forward operating bases and combat out posts under a Fragmentary Order by Central Command. The FRAGO outlined a realignment of U.S. Forces Afghanistan, installation engineering responsibilities under an Expeditionary Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Group and most Air Force engineers under a single component. This allowed Air Force Engineer leadership increased responsiveness, flexibility and theater-wide integration of engineering forces to ensure the most efficient and effective use of assets in meeting supported commanders priorities. Sergeant Kohlieber said it was an honor to be part of civil engineering history and credited the success to his team's determination and uncanny ability to flex forward on a moment's notice in an unfamiliar mission.
