The French air force worked in collaboration with Holloman AFB to graduate six student pilots and sensor operators from the 16th Training Squadron. The students became the first-ever French air force members to learn the MQ-9 Reaper system, and their landmark graduation will mark the beginning of future coalition efforts between France and the U.S. to better utilize Remotely Piloted Aircraft across the world. Staff Sgt. Erin O’Connell, a solar analyst with the 2nd Weather Squadron, Det. 4, creates a sunspot drawing from a projected image of the sun at the Holloman Solar Observatory on Sept. 24. Sunspots are temporary phenomena on the visible surface of the sun that appear visibly as dark spots compared to surrounding regions. The solar analysts closely monitor this information in order to safeguard and protect important assets in both civilian and Department of Defense agencies.
