Senior Airman Anthony Johnson, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron, Fire Protection Flight firefighter, explains the controls in the fire engine for a chalk walk during Operation Kids Investigating Deployment at Holloman Air Force Base N.M., Sept 22. Operation K.I.D. is an event put on for military youth that teaches them the deployment process. Youth ages 5-13 go through a mock deployment at the 49th Materiel Maintenance Group and receive military orders, gear and a uniform. The children also learn about safety and the conditions of their mock destination. This annual event is held to give kids a better understanding on what it’s like when their loved ones prepare for deployment. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Leah Ferrante/Released)
