Request a Tour

The 49th Wing Public Affairs office manages the base's community engagement program. The objective of community engagement is to increase public awareness and understanding of the Air Force and Holloman Air Force Base. The base maintains an active program that includes an Honorary Commander program, organized base tours, and base participation in large community events and parades.

Our goal is to foster positive relations with the surrounding communities. Participation in community events by Air Force personnel is desirable and highly encouraged. However, limitations of time, money and mission requirements may make it impossible to grant all requests. The Community Engagement office can be reached at (575) 572-7381.

Base Tours

The 49th Wing offers organized group tours to educate people about the U.S. Air Force and Holloman Air Force Base and its missions. While we try to accommodate specific requests to visit a particular unit or learn about a specific mission, please understand that our mission must come first. Tours are only provided to organized groups such as civic organizations, schools, businesses, and reunion groups. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate individuals or non-organized groups.

Certain conditions and restrictions apply to all base tours. Tour groups must meet the following requirements:

Size:

Tours are limited to a minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 40 (or the passenger capability of one bus). An optimum group size of 20-25 will allow for more interaction with the Holloman experts thus giving the visitors the most rewarding experience.

Transportation:

The Public Affairs Office will arrange for transportation using one government vehicle with Public Affairs escort. Requests to use multiple vehicles cannot be accommodated.

Dates:

Tours are only offered on weekdays, not including Federal holidays. Tours will not exceed six hours to include a lunch break, if requested. Optimum tour length is three to four hours to provide visitors the most rewarding and comfortable experience.

Meals:

Because meal options on base are limited, it is recommended that group tours take advantage of the vast variety of eateries a short 15-minute drive from Holloman. However, should the group's schedule dictate they take a meal on base, the meal options on base include Oasis Pizzeria, Club Holloman, Bowling Alley, McDonalds, Popeyes and the Base Exchange Food Court. For more information about on-base restaurants go to http://www.hollomanfss.com.

Mobility:

Modified tours may be granted to those with limited mobility; however, this must be stated on the request form. If not stated, it is assumed that walking and stair climbing is not an issue. Tour participants should expect periods of standing and a moderate amount of walking.

Base Access:

(Individuals requesting base access must consent to a background check for security purposes).

The following information is needed for each person older than 16 years old and visitors must be U.S. citizens (for entry of non-U.S. citizens, please call the Public Affairs Office):

NAME:
Last, First, Middle Initial, if you have one. (For example: Jones, Joe A.)

BIRTH DATE:
The requested format is mm/dd/yy. (For example, May 21, 1975 would be written as 05/21/75.)

BIRTH PLACE:
City and state, if born in the United States. If born in another country, outside of the United States, then we need city and country.

SPECIAL NEEDS:
Does anyone in your group use special medical equipment, like a wheelchair, a walker, a portable oxygen device, have a service animal, or have any other special needs? If so, modified tours may be granted to those with limited mobility; however, this must be stated on the request form. If not stated, it is assumed that walking and stair climbing is not an issue.
