Smile! Dental professional's week is March 7 - 12
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Senior Airman Carlynn Caraang, a dental technician with the 49th Medical Group Dental Clinic, is trained by Staff Sgt. Tomeka Jones, a hygienist also with the clinic, on a false set of teeth. Good oral health and hygiene are important components of physical fitness and combat readiness. Smile! Dental professional's week is March 7 - 12
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – Capt. (Dr.) Rebecca Brinks, a dentist with the 49th Medical Group Dental Clinic, and Senior Airman Sarah Swaim, a dental technician also with the dental clinic, give an anesthetic to a patient prior to filling a cavity during an annual dental visit. Annual dental exams are performed to ensure military members have healthy mouths to ensure they are operationally ready and to prevent diseases such as gingivitis, periodontis and cavities. Team Holloman member receives American Red Cross' highest honor
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Katherine Peel, American Red Cross instructor and trainer, presents Cassandra Hass, a seasonal employee for the 49th Force Support Squadron, with the Red Cross's highest national honor, the "Certificate of Merit," Feb. 18, 2011, for selfless and humane action in saving a life. Ms. Hass used the skills learned in the American Red Cross Health and Safety Services course to save the life of her grandmother after a snowmobiling accident. HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman 1st Class Tyler Huisken, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron, uses a floor roller to level the newly-installed tiles at the 746th Test Squadron facility Feb. 18, 2011. Members of the 49th CES responded to and repaired more than $3 million in damages caused by a record-breaking February snow storm. Because of all the water breaks, water usage on base soared. Safety office brings home 12th AF awards
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 49th Wing Safety Office, seen here, won two awards at the 12th AF level: Traffic Safety Special Achievement Award and Chief of Safety Special Achievement Award. Additionally, Maj. Aaron Lattig won Flight Safety Officer of the Year and Shawn Quarles won Weapons Safety Outstanding Achievement Award. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Teresa Wells receives the 49th Wing Key Spouse of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Ms. Wells oversaw the group spouse’s haunted house fundraiser, which raised $3,400 for morale events. Additionally, she collected and sorted items for more than 400 care packages and distributed them to deployed Airmen. The nominees for Key Spouse of the Year were Ms. Wells, Tina Keene, Nicole Krebs and Jamie Sherwood. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- William Urick, 49th Operations Group, receives the Senior Civilian of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Mr. Urick managed Holloman’s busiest ranges by clearing 120 tons of unexploded ordinances. Additionally, he oversaw the installation of a $50,000 remote weather station that provides realistic and safe combat training for thousands of joint and coalition forces. The nominees for Senior Civilian of the Year were Mr. Urick; Augustus Neverson, 49th Materiel Maintenance Group; Maurice Lopez, 49th Medical Group; Thomas Mitchell, 49th Mission Support Group; and Gerald Laver, 49th Wing Staff. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Melissa Hancock, 49th Wing Staff, receives the Intermediate Civilian of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Ms. Hancock led five congressional visits, coordinated 17 change of commands and 173 visits of distinguished members, while completing the first unit of Squadron Officer School and several credits toward her master’s degree. These actions led to her selection as the 2010 first and third quarter wing staff Intermediate Civilian of the Quarter. The nominees for Intermediate Civilian of the Year were Ms. Hancock; Francisco Perez Delgado, 49th Materiel Maintenance Group; Diane Morrill, 49th Medical Group; Kimberly Lawhorn, 49th Mission Support Group; and Juan Laverreda Perez, 49th Operations Group. HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Donna Boots, 49th Medical Group, receives the Junior Civilian of the Year award from Col. Ms. Boots piloted the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Project, collecting comfort items valued at $1,500. Additionally, through astute management and review of more than 46 records and 100 custodians, she took the medical group’s file plan from worst to first in one year.
