49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Maj. Douglas Warren, 49th Maintenance Group, receives the Field Grade Officer of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Major Warren deployed 188 days to Kabul, Afghanistan, where he aggressively sourced $93 million in aircraft parts, which enabled the Afghan air force to operate independently. Additonally, he procured upgraded body armor, ensuring maximum protection and eliminating flight control function limitations. The nominees for FGO of the Year were Major Warren; Maj. Anita Chapel, 49th Medical Group; Maj. Patrick Holland, 49th Mission Support Group; and Maj. Matthew Dean, 49th Operations Group. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- 1st Lt. Jennifer Lindberg, 49th Maintenance Group, receives the Company Grade Officer of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Lieutenant Lindberg led 200 Airmen across seven Air Force specialty codes and managed 28 F-22 aircraft valued at $4 billion. Additionally, she balanced a $266 million flying hour program while serving as the aircraft maintenance unit officer in charge. Furthermore, she led a 12-ship deployment to Red Flag - Nellis where she maintained a 91 percent mission capable rate enabling the best-to-date kill ratio of 44 to one. The nominees for CGO of the Year were Lieutenant Lindberg; Capt. Adrian Simental, 49th Materiel Maintenance Group; Capt. Dawn Rose, 49th Medical Group; Capt. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Senior Master Sgt. Kimberly Armijo, 49th Maintenance Group, receives the First Sergeant of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Sergeant Armijo protected the Air Force’s most valuable resources by skillfully diffusing five volatile domestic disputes. Additionally, she coordinated critical follow-up care and recovery of three distraught Airmen after attempts of suicide. Furthermore, she was awarded her bachelor’s degree and received the Distinguished Graduate Award upon graduation from the Senior NCO Academy. The nominees for First Sergeant of the Year were Sergeant Armijo; Master Sgt. Steven Reynolds, 49th Materiel Maintenance Group; Master Sgt. Melissa Tarango, 49th Medical Group; Master Sgt. 49th Wing 2010 Annual Award winners
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Senior Master Sgt. Jonothan Voigt, 49th Mission Support Group, receives the Senior NCO of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Sergeant Voigt served as fuels management flight chief, where he led 75 personnel and managed a 15 million gallon fuel account valued at more than $41 million. He championed his flight to success, where they were selected number one of 15 bases in Air Combat Command as the Drake American Petroleum Institute Award winners. These efforts culminated in his selection as the wing’s Senior NCO of the second quarter. The nominees for Senior NCO of the Year were Sergeant Voigt; Senior Master Sgt. James Cupp, 49th Materiel Maintenance Group; Senior Master Sgt. Shawn Hughes, 49th Maintenance Group; Senior Master Sgt. William Cisna, 49th Medical Group; Master Sgt. HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Senior Airman Hershell Smith, 49th Operations Group, receives the Airman of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the Wing’s Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Airman Smith labored 90 hours, supporting 15 combat sortie missions which provided real-time, full-motion video intelligence with zero coalition losses during overseas contingency operations. Additionally, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and was awarded the John Levitow Award upon graduation from Airman Leadership School. HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Senior Airman E’lysia Hill, 49th Maintenance Group, receives the Honor Guard member of the Year award from Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander, during the 49th Wing Annual Awards Ceremony, Feb. 11. Airman Hill devoted 320 hours and traveled more than 25,000 miles honoring 25 veterans. Additionally, she performed 55 flag ceremonies for funerals and retirements, earning her recognition as Honor Guardsmen of the third quarter. White Sands Soldier identified as casualty
WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. -- A White Sands Missile Range Soldier supporting Operation Enduring Freedom died Feb. 8. Spec. Nathan B. Carse, 32, of Harrod, Ohio, died in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. Heart Link heartens team Holloman's heart
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Participants in Heart Link go over a questionnaire at the Airman and Family Readiness Center during an April 2010 program. Heart Link is a program that was created to give spouses an inside look at the military lifestyle. Organizations from the base and local community attend the program to meet with spouses and give them information about the base and what it has to offer.
