Relocation Assistance Program

Relocation is a very significant part of military life which makes demands on every member of the Air Force family. The AFRC helps single and married Air Force members and their families prepare for relocation to a new base and adjust to life at the new base once they get there.

Using your Holloman AFB Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) you can:

Get up-to-date, detailed information about your next base and community.
Learn how to prepare for your move.
Get maps and detailed directions to your next location.
Get help planning your moving expenses.
Get information about and help with making connections in this community.

Seminar And Workshops

Spouse Information Day:
This five hour program is conducted monthly and is designed to inform Holloman's military spouses about the base, mission, services, facilities, and the surrounding community. Speakers are brought in from various agencies around the base. The program also includes a tour of several base facilities. Lunch, and daycare, if required, are provided free to participants by Family Services volunteers.

A question and answer period is held following each speaker. Handouts and brochures are provided to each participant.

Smart Move:
This two hour program, held monthly, is designed to provide military members and their families with accurate and up-to-date information to help them make informed decisions and timely plans regarding their relocation. Information is provided by representatives of the various base agencies involved with making a move.

Housing Management Office

A question and answer period is held following each speaker. Handouts and brochures are provided to each participant.

Sponsor Training:
This one and a half hour program, conducted monthly, is designed to give new sponsors ideas and assistance in providing inbound personnel with accurate and up-to-date information to help them make informed decisions and timely plans regarding their relocation to Holloman. Information is provided on how to tailor the individual sponsor packages to meet the needs of new personnel, their families, and what to do after their arrival.

Individual Relocation Assistance Program
Individual relocation assistance programs are available to individuals at the AFRC. This assistance is accomplished one-on-one with the military members and/or their spouse.

Assistance Includes:

Air Force Crossroads:
A computerized system with "E-mail" access to bases around the world for obtaining individualized information. The Internet address is www.afcrossroads.com


Standard Installation Topic Exchange Services (SITES):
A computerized program with current information on the next base of assignment, port information if shipping vehicles, school information, and general information on the base and community surrounding the new base, and much, much more. SITES information is checked for accuracy and continuously updated.

AUTOMAP:
A computerized program designed to give written instructions and a pictorial map display which help in planning travel in the continental United States, including gasoline cost computation, mileage, and average driving time to complete the journey.


MAPS 'N' FACTS:
A computerized program which provides information on countries around the world.


PC USA:
A computerized program which provides information on the 50 states. Information includes: state demographics, economics, living conditions, and data on the educational systems.


ASSESSOR SERIES:
Computerized programs providing cost of living comparisons between locations in the United States. The series also compares relative salary levels, by professions, in the continental United States.

Sponsor Packets: Information on Holloman and the surrounding community to be sent to personnel projected into Holloman.

Spouse Relocation Services including career referrals and orientation programs.

Individualized counseling for dealing with stress associated with relocation.
